A robot whose mission is to collect data regarding human emotions and report them back to his superior for "Global Illumination". The center of everything that Hello, world boils down to is –not surprisingly– Kazuki, the protagonist. His mission leads him to start off this journey, from the initial boot sequence which will excite any computer programmer, and computer-oriented thought sequence, to the endpoint where his observation subjects become people he willingly desires to protect despite his logic circuit. The excruciating details of everyday life between the regular student life and the robotic reports to "HIKARI" will, through the meticulous writing of Shikashi, the writer, seep the subtle changes of Kazuki personifying through tiny things like the time he takes to respond vocally to others, his speech patterns becoming less formal and various neat tid-bits that one can pick up when reading.

Albeit she's bright and energetic, her selfish behavior causes other people to look down on her, thus she don't have many friends. While she's a slow runner, she's good at ball games. She drives a red GT2 sports car manually (despite that pretty much everyone else just puts the cars on autopilot by then). Normally she's quite gentle and graceful but her character takes a 180 when she grips the wheel of her car. Older sister of Mika, for her sake Wakana tries to replace their mother who died in the past.

Kazuki's classmate, she's the athlete of the group. Kaoru is the school swim team ace who competes at national level. While at first look she seems to be the cool beauty type, she’s actually quite the trouble maker type and pranks Natsumi all the time. She can be described as being short-tempered and frank, who's rather boyish both inside and outside. Due to all that she is quite popular as a net-idol celebrity. She has an awesome petrobot called Ni-gi.

Kazuki's faithful petrobot whom he bought at the robot shop Haruka works at. Its forte lies in high mobility activities such as running or dancing. Right after Kazuki has bought it, he alters his behavior from the generic "petrobot" patterns and custom tailor it toward being his "assistant". Thanks to this (unlike most of the other petrobots in game) Etekou is capable of pronouncing some very basic sentences. As with every robot related things, Kazuki is capable of controlling Etekou remotely via hacking.

Originally she's Wakana's underclassman, but they share something more than that. She's also a genius programmer. Sort of a "lone wolf" even though she's rather fragile. Her personality is about the opposite of Wakana; kinda nihilistic.
