Sensei is a teacher at Kumon-mi High, responsible for an all-girls class of students. To say that he teaches them may be an overstatement. Described by some as "creepy", by others as "hot", and by most "a terrible teacher", strong opinions on Sensei are the norm. Sensei's memory about much of his past is hazy at best, and unfortunately his students and friends are not very interested in filling in the blanks.

Sensei's niece, who has lived with him for years after the untimely death of her parents in a car accident. She has a devoted and loving nature, and takes care of most domestic tasks from cooking to waking Sensei up in the morning. She can be found in her bedroom on weekend mornings.

Nodoka is an academic superstar who humbles even Makoto in the competition for biggest brain around. Eccentric when amped on coffee, she may be the only person who loves reading more than her childhood friend Futaba -- especially stories of an intimate nature, which she also writes.

An idealist with a heart of pink, Noriko loves justice, loud music, and Sensei. Her punk aesthetic hides both profound academic talent and tremendous kindness. That said, the passionate intensity she brings to the things she cares about can be intimidating.

Touka was born into a very wealthy family and is unfamiliar with the day-to-day lives of those less fortunate than herself. The very definition of sheltered, Touka hopes Sensei will be her foot in the door to understanding the rest of Kumon-mi.

If one word could describe Tsuneyo's life, it would be noodles. Having up until now lived a sheltered life and taught by her father, since his illness she has taken up his ramen shop and a great interest in all that she does not know about the outside world.

A socially adept country girl from Nara, Uta leverages both her people skills and confidence at the Maid Cafe. With the same upbeat energy she brings to karaoke, her maid persona Uta-chan knows just what to say to lighten both your heart AND your wallet.

Yasu is a deeply religious girl and very open about her beliefs. Difficult to communicate with at first, Yasu has an endearing and unique brand of sweetness that hints at a deeper personality obscured behind her work.
