The former sprint star of the school athletics club, he drops out after tearing his knee ligament and told he'll never achieve the same results after rehabilitation. He takes out his frustrations by exploiting his physical attributes as a brawler for hire but is constantly harassed by his ex-manager Koga Sachi. Eventually he falls in love with her but his confession is rejected the same day the Koushin Disaster strikes... His Baroque powers allow him to absorb anything he comes into contact with to heal his wounds and to reform as armour which protects him from almost all conventional weaponry. His preferred protection is the organic armour he attained after absorbing the cells of the "enemy" he encountered in the ruins of his town. After training with his fellow escapees, Nao also learns how to hide himself by assimilating his cellular structure with the surrounding environment allowing him to attack foes from their blind spots. He can also transform his legs which allows him to fuse with skyscraper walls and climb them without difficulty. His primary Baroque bonds are with his fellow survivors with the exception of Nara who didn't manifest the same abilities as the other survivors. Depending on the route, he is responsible for killing two out of the three selectable heroines. He is also indirectly responsible for the Koushin disaster as he was spotted by Nara long before the disaster and admired as the very definition of happiness when together with Sachi. His memory of being turned down by Koga Sachi is a fake one to protect him from the truth. A year after the horrific accident which maimed her he chose to turn off her life support, this was the same day the Gestalt sent down the energy field which would characterise the Koushin Disaster. Although he was killed outright by the impact, Nara resurrected him and realised he could not function normally without Sachi by his side. It is revealed that the power to absorb matter is actually a side effect of this ressurection, not his Baroque power, with his actual Baroque power being his ability to project copies of Sachi prior to her accident.

The sole survivor of her household after the Koushin Disaster strikes, she is saved by Nao together with Yachiru. Gregarious and high-spirited, she keeps the survivors' spirits high no matter how tough it gets in the town ruins. She frequently teases Yachiru and frequently asks Nao and Sachi about the nature of their relationship. When the survivors reach New Akatsuki town, Kamori is the most adaptable and attempts to recreate the life she had before the Disaster as best as she can. She's extremely fond of convenience store junk food but is cautious of her calorie intake. Kamori doesn't manifest her Baroque powers until she reaches New Akatsuki town. She can spontaneously generate fire and quickly learns to use it for both offence and defence. The raw power of her fireballs is enough to melt steel at 1500 degrees Celsius. Despite her cheerful disposition, she is actually suffering from PTSD and survivor's guilt which she tries to forget by living her live in the present to the maximum. Tonosaka exploits her vulnerable mental state in her route and implants a destructive split personality in her which periodically goes berserk and burns down much of the new town. When she's in her destructive mental state (which Tonosaka christens as "Carrie") she loses all memory of her actions when she returns to normal. Her powers are considerably more effective when she loses to "Carrie", strong enough to convince the American agents ordered to capture her to focus solely on killing her as they realise it's impossible to take her in alive. It is during her destructive rampage that she destroys Sachi's apartment, which is the trigger that leads to her death at Nao's hand. In her route ending, Nao is free to "visit" her as and when he pleases. Although she enjoys the food Nao picks for the pair of them, he can't always finish meals for two...

She is caught up in the Koushin Disaster but survives and stays together with a group of survivors when Nao and Sachi show up. When the survivors are all killed by the monsters, she declares Nao as the "model" she strives to emulate and stays by his side even after leaving the Disaster Zone. After being adopted by a Japanese man when her mother marries to gain citizenship, she is subjected to constant sexual abuse by the paedophile foster father. When she experiences her first period, she is prostituted out as a source of income for her foster father. She endures it all in the hope she can make her mother happy in their new homeland but begins to despair she will never obtain happiness herself. The extreme conditions she labours under are the trigger for the discovery of her telepathic powers. She then picks up the signals sent out by the intergalactic Gestalt and accepts their proposal. This fuses her consciousness with that of a representative from the Gestalt, granting her immortality and the power to transform organic and inorganic matter to facilitate the "conversion" process. She glimpses Nao and Sachi cycling by her home every day when she looks outside and sees the pair as the very emblem of happiness she strives for. This is the main reason why she resurrects Nao and grants him his powers in hopes that the happiness of the pair is shared by the rest of the world. His declaration about the nature of humanity is taken as it is by Nara and the Gestalt which sets the bar for humanity's homogenisation too high for the vast majority of humans to clear. She uses the experiences and outcomes of Nao's actions in the first two routes as data for the final timestream which determines the outcome of the homogenisation process. If he succeeds in postponing the process by deliberately introducing a paradox error in the Gestalt's data comparison process, she leaves earth to join the Gestalt and swears to defend it if the Gestalt returns once again to subject Earth to another homogenisation process.

The manager of the school athletics club, she is the only person who shows concern for Kamishiro Nao after his ligament tear. She turns down his love confession on the same day as the Koushin Disaster and is found unharmed close to Nao when he awakens in the town ruins. Aside from knowing who Nao is and the memories they spent together, she initially remembers nothing else after the disaster. In New Akatsuki town she lives close to Nao in a different apartment complex. She spends her time trying to recover memories of her life before the disaster and cooking for Nara when she comes to stay over for the night. Her Baroque power allows her to manifest three clones of herself armed with a variety of weapons. If the clones are destroyed, she is assailed by immense pain which can render her incapable of action until she recovers. Controlling her clones is mentally taxing and she is unable to coordinate the clones efficiently the longer the battle drags on. In Yachiru and Kamori's routes she accepts Nara's offer to join her in the Gestalt to allow Nao to break away from any lingering attachment to her. In her own route, it is revealed she fell in love with Nao as she attempted to reform him after his injury. She confessed to him and he accepted it. The couple then spent the next six months as lovers, it is during this period when Nao cycles to town with Sachi riding behind that they are seen by the despairing Nara who sees them as the emblem of happiness she aspires to. When Sachi is caught up in a horrific accident on public transport, her life is saved but she loses her sight, hearing and voice along with all of her limbs except her left arm. Nao visits her repeatedly at her bedside and they find a way to communicate by writing messages on each other's palms with their fingers. On the first anniversary of her love confession, she asks Nao to grant her a merciful death while she can still be happy about their relationship. He grants it but is unable to overcome the guilt from this decision. With the withdrawal of the alien Gestalt, Nao loses his ability to manifest Sachi. He gets a final chance to say goodbye to the copy and swears he will live on alone in honour of her memory.

Yuuri's adult form when his fellow survivors jump through Oozaki's rift in pursuit. He is now taller than Nao and has mastered his Baroque powers to survive against constant pursuit by the Conglomerate's security forces. His Baroque powers are similar to Nao's in his ability to absorb material to regenerate wounds and to manifest body armour for combat. Unlike Nao, he transforms his right hand into a large piledriver capable of offence and defence and generates tentacles from his back which he can use to ensnare his opponents. He lacks Nao's versatility as the basis for his powers is fundamentally different from Nao's despite the similarities in function. In addition to his fellow survivors, he transmits the Baroque virus to Ozaki directly as a mark of his trust after liberation from Conglomerate experimentation. His sole wish to see his fellow survivors (particularly Nao) again helps him survive his ordeal under the Conglomerate. He prizes Nao's safety and happiness above all else, even above the world and humanity's survival. Although older and taller than his fellow survivors after they made it to New Akatsuki a decade later he still refer to them in the same manner he did when he was still a child. He has no qualms about killing humans who are a threat to him and his fellow survivors. Betrayals do not sit lightly with him and his hostility at the discovery of Sekigawa and Ozaki's true natures is strong enough to compel him to kill them if they were to use his fellow survivors for their own ends. Dies in two out of the three routes.

A university student visiting Akatsuki town when the Koushin Disaster strikes. Nao saves her and Kamori when he encounters them by chance after leaving the ruined underground passageways. Although supremely confident in her appearance and abilities, she's really a klutz who panics easily and likes to show off her achievements to her fellow survivors, no matter how minor they might be. After escaping Akatsuki town, she leverages her fame as a Disaster Zone Survivor by working in the entertainment industry. Her duties include filming variety shows and commercials for the local media outlets in New Akatsuki Town. Her Baroque power is the manipulation of sound. She can manifest a parrot (which is a talking outlet of her subconscious self) and direct it at targets with considerable sonic force. She can confuse opponents by creating decoy noises and silencing her own. The only heroine who survives all three routes relatively unscathed. She serves as Nao's love interest in the "normal" end. Despite her clumsiness and propensity to panic under pressure, she eventually matures and overcomes her opponents in the duels she is forced into on her route.

She is never involved in the military operations of her comrades as her sole function is to relay the prophecies she receives on an irregular basis to the commander. They trust her implicitly as every single prophecy she has delivered has come to pass despite her unconscious obfuscation of details (human frames cannot cope with the information overload and its consequences). She is capable of using her prophetic abilities in a proactive manner and has kept a special alcoholic hallucinogen used by her forefathers for this purpose in Sachi's route. She pays for her knowledge with her life but her role is indispensable in creating the conditions necessary for the remaining American agents to fight back.

Unlike Hu Yi, he does not look down on his opponent no matter the difference in combat prowess. A fellow deserter from the PLA together with Hu Yi, they have worked together as mercenaries selling their services to the highest bidder after successfully escaping from the army. Combines Qigong and Telekinesis into a unique power capable of devastating physical destructive force (human crucible) and deploys this together with Chinese Martial Arts. Although her special ability lacks the versatility of the American agents, her combat capability exceeds their combined might in close-quarters combat. Real name 小麗, she grew up in San Francisco's Chinatown together with her older brother 阿文 (Nadreck of The Six). When the siblings were discovered exhibiting latent potential for psionic powers, the Americans sought to secure them but were unable to claim her as the Chinese PLA got to her first. After training under the PLA, she deserts together with Hu Liang and now works as a mercenary. Extremely confident in her combat prowess to the point of arrogance, she lives for the thrill of combat and is a firm believer in the mantra of "survival of the fittest". Her arrogance usually leads to her undoing as her cornered opponents succeed in taking her by surprise which is the only way to bypass her psionic defences. Dies in two out of three routes.

Nominally under the command of the United States military, he reports to Koga Takashi when New Akatsuki is threatened by hostile factions which his squad is in charge of resolving. Easily the strongest wielder of superhuman powers in this series, he envies the versatility of his subordinates despite his potential being sufficient to destroy the world if not kept in check. Training combined with an iron will allows him to erase opponents from existence by molecular destruction or to neutralise targets by rendering them unconscious. His brave albeit futile attack against the intergalactic Gestalt motivates his surviving subordinates to fight for the survival of others even at the cost of their lives, which is coincidentally the condition imposed by Nara to separate those turned into "rejects" from the survivors allowed to retain their humanity.

An ex-JSDF soldier and the commander of the New Akatsuki security forces, she is usually found in the control room directing operations against Kusakabe Yuuri and the mercenary pair. She reports directly to Mayor Koga regarding security incidents. Her conversation with Nao regarding contact with Sabikawa Shinri is the branching point from the game's common route to the individual heroine routes.

Sachi's father. Mayor of New Akatsuki Town. Previously the founder of a small company with no political aspirations, it shocks Sachi when she discovers he is the mayor of New Akatsuki town. The puppet mayor installed by the Conglomerate using his supposedly revived daughter as leverage is cold and emotionless to the suffering of the residents as he is well aware of the town's true nature and the Conglomerate supporting it. His office on the 57th floor of the Ziggurat gives him a good view of the town he administers as a figurehead. It is a shock to him that Kamishiro Nao has forgotten what happened to his daughter. As he was away when the Disaster struck, he was unharmed, but it is implied he lost his wife over the decade before Nao and the survivors re-emerged. For obvious reasons, he is enraged at the sight of Koga Sachi and refuses to meet her after it emerges she is among the survivors. He allows Nao to kill him when he "kills" Sachi with his firearm. He doesn't regret his actions as they will enable him to finally be reunited with his family.

Kamori's workplace buddy at the AW-SON convenience store. She usually takes the day-shift with Kamori taking evenings and nights so they see each other often because of the overlap. Although Kamori develops a Baroque link with Shiho towards the end of Sachi's arc, she does not manifest any powers before the Gestalt withdraws. At the end of the arc, she provides Kamori with a place to stay after the latter resolves to never see Nao and Yachiru again to help her forget the trauma she suffered during the Disaster.

Has the ability to apport and asport animate and inanimate objects (essentially instantaneous teleportation of objects to a definitive target he can visualise, objects subject to his powers ignore all obstacles and manifest directly at the destination). The youngest of the Six, he argues frequently with Worsel but otherwise gets along well with the other members. Uses a vast quantity of Kunai which are used as instantaneous projectiles. He is unable to run out of ammunition since the weapons are not held on his person. Real name 阿文, the older of a pair of siblings living in San Francisco's Chinatown who were targeted for their psionics potential. Kinnison is aware of his background and does not admonish him when Nadreck deserts his comrades to look for his sister. Nadreck either dies with his goal of reunion with his sister unfulfilled or survives to fight alongside her as the pair vow never to be separated again.

Yachiru's stepsister. When Yachiru's parents divorced during the decade she went missing, her father remarried and Yachiru's new stepmother's daughter became part of the Nanami family. Slavishly devoted to Yachiru who is easily swayed by the constant and unending stream of flattery emanating from Himari's mouth. An actress employed by the Conglomerate to spy on Yachiru. She plays her part competently but secretly despises the shallow Yachiru. She eventually acquires Baroque powers after spending enough time gaining Yachiru's trust, these manifest themselves as exploding teddy bears (up to a maximum of six) which she can move at will to protect herself or to destroy her surrounding enemies. She uses the wheelchair as a means of getting around faster, her paralysis is just a charade. In routes where she manifests her powers, she eventually dies. Otherwise she is missing/presumed dead.

A mysterious man Nao first meets at the school evacuation zone, he later tries to kill Nao when the school is assailed by the Disaster Zone monsters but fails. Nao attempts to find him in the hopes of reasoning with him and using his powers to return to the Disaster Zone to save the survivors trapped within. Ozaki Kouji is possibly an alias for this ex-policeman turned mercenary working together with Sabikawa Shinri. He acquires Yuuri's trust when he is saved from the Conglomerate's confinement and as a consequence is infected with the Baroque virus. Yuuri is initially unaware that "Teraoka" is the same person Nao is looking for when they are reunited. The greatsword Ozaki wields generates gravitational rifts which he and others can pass through. The rifts allow him to traverse space and time plus he is able to hide in them when spying on a target. If required, he can use the rift as a prison to remove targets from existence. The weapon itself is capable of dismembering the monsters in the Disaster Zone with little difficulty. A former detective in Tokyo who was dismissed for corruption, he survives as a mercenary until he encounters Sabikawa Shinri. He becomes infatuated with her and is willing to go along with her scheme in return for enjoying time spent with her. Cynical and nihilistic, he is nevertheless extremely experienced in combat situations and has full mastery of his Baroque powers. He dies in all three routes.

A former Conglomerate employee who absconded and is now plotting to bring down the Conglomerate by exposing its underhanded dealings and experiments. Yuuri introduces Nao to Shinri who promises to help Nao and the others to escape New Akatsuki. Originally Tonosaka's fiancee, she was discarded by him after he devoted his efforts into researching the Baroque phenomenon. She used her skills as a political activist to obtain information on the Conglomerate prior to absconding which she hopes to use as a means to topple it and deprive Tonosaka of his work. She does not care about the welfare of Nao, Yuuri and the other survivors and only sees them as a means to an end. Her ultimate objective is to deprive Tonosaka of his Baroque research and to force him to return to her, preferably with his desire to research focused solely on her alone. She dies in two out of three routes but succeeds in obtaining her ideal revenge in the third route.

A volunteer doctor working for the Akatsuki Conglomerate. He is in charge of overseeing the medical examination Nao and his fellow survivors undergo on a regular basis. Educated in the United States, he is affable and highly skilled. The head of research into the Baroque phenomenon. Tonosaka is a psychopath unable to empathise with fellow humans; he sees them as test subjects to be experimented upon. He broke off his engagement with Sabikawa shortly after taking charge of the Baroque project. In order to prove his theories on the Baroque phenomenon, he would go to the extent of hiring the ex-PLA mercenary pair to interfere with the efforts of the Six to secure Yuuri and Nao as well as using them to train up the combat abilities of the nascent Baroque wielders. His amoral nature allows him to carry out otherwise despicable acts such as organised gang rapes and psychological manipulation in the name of research. He dies in one route but survives in the other two.

After manifesting his pyrokinesis powers, he was scouted by Kinnison and works under his team. His intrinsic love of gambling is fulfilled by the risks he frequently incurs as part of his job. Like Kamori, he is capable of manipulating fire. However his training and experience far exceed hers and he is capable of manipulating the oxygen levels of an environment to better fuel his flames. He has partial Native-American heritage but is dismissive of Bågenholm and her unwillingness to exploit her powers to their full potential. Although lazy with the administrative aspects of his job, he is more than willing to risk his life to eliminate a target. He is killed by Nao during their duel in Kamori's route but survives in the other two routes.
