An itinerant half-elf 鍛梁師 (magicians capable of civil engineering, archaeology and invention of new contraptions) who is lured to the Influss kingdom and its recent discovery of ancient ruins in hopes of securing stable long-term employment to fulfil his dream of managing his own atelier. An accident leads to his inadvertent awakening of the goddess Fia sealed deep within the ruins. He becomes Fia's apostle to aid her in reaching her goal in exchange for free use of the Guaracouna fortress as his atelier. Avaro is initially sceptical of Fia's claims but is gradually won over to her cause. He is even willing to take on the rest of civilisation in defence of his deity when Marsterria threatens to destroy the fortress which is seen as a taboo amongst the gods who hold sway. Depending on player actions, Avaro either learns of the fate that befell his parents and plays a crucial role in fulfilling Fia's goal or is forced to kill Fia to prevent her from bringing disaster to the world. For the latter, he is spared the fate of God-slayers as Fia removes the bond binding him as her apostle before she dies.

A Leone who utilises her race's physical attributes to wield a greatsword much larger than she is. She lives together with Mikeyu as family having run away from her village at a young age and survived through wholehearted belief in "survival of the fittest". Refers to herself in the third person as "Io". At the start of the story, she works as a freelance 狩猟屋 (bounty hunter cum assassin) for the Gaidal trading company without telling Mikeyu to help the pair make ends meet. After she quits, she moves in with Mikeyu into the fortress and is generally in charge of cooking for the party. The food she cooks is delicious enough to enable employment at restaurants, were it not for her "unusual" cooking methods... Iol hails from 天枯断層, a region mainly inhabited by beastmen and blighted as a site of one of the battles the god Fiusia fought in his crusade. Her parents were the strongest fighters in the village and lost their lives when Io was young defending the village from the monsters incursions which blighted the village for generations. Iol blamed the villagers for abandoning her parents and left on her own, shortly after she saved Mikeyu and started living together with her. Iol with the party's help eventually avenges her parents by slaying the monster responsible for instigating the incursions into her village and learns the truth behind her parents' death.

A descendant of the dragons who fought together with Fiusia during his crusade, but she is young and is initially unable to manifest her dragon form. The unexpected death of her father Schuketor, the overlord of the dragon clans who reside in the mountain peaks guarding the passage through to Fia's intended destination, leads to Katlit's exile as Carmelg attempts to kill her and claim overlordship of the dragon clans through force of arms. Katlit with the help of loyal retainers escapes from the dragon domains and is eventually taken in by the old technician who later drops by the Fortress and allows Katlit to work in his stead as he recovers from injuries. Katlit eventually returns to her homeland and assumes overlordship of the dragon clans as her father did before her, but the circumstances of her succession vary depending on player actions.

A wandering swordswoman who is under the command of Gilsh Loos as a third-class guest general in his Dragon Maw Knight Platoon at the start of the story. She oversees the excavation work of the ruins Avaro is working in when monsters attack and she is forced to evacuate the workers to fight them off together with Avaro. Extremely serious and with a strong sense of duty, she prioritises the welfare of civilians above all else and will disobey orders to save civilians in peril. She is also capable of keeping her professional and private life separate and will engage Avaro in conversation even when circumstances dictate they must take opposing sides. Completely incapable of everyday tasks outside of combat and wielding a sword, she also has no inhibitions with respect to her appearance when in her own quarters. Kisnil was forced into exile from her homeland after her lord was killed during a rebellion whilst she was away saving civilians from raiding bandits. Although her lord gave his blessing for her to leave his bodyguard to save the people, she nonetheless feels guilty and believes she was directly responsible for her lord's death. His final order was for Kisnil to save as many civilians as she could, which she tries to uphold in memory of him.

The sovereign of the Lauroso kingdom, a western neighbour of the Influss kingdom. Very self-aware of her status and her abilities, she makes a grand entrance announcing herself to the fortress. Despite her arrogant nature and forceful personality, she does care for the welfare of her people and is decisive when disaster strikes her kingdom. As a ruler of one of the successor kingdoms to the once-great Inlux kingdom which held sway over all territory loyal to the Fiusia cult, she harbours a generations-old ambition to topple the larger Influss kingdom and to unite the human lands under one banner once more. To do this, she attempts to seize control of the fortress by kidnapping Avaro and forcing him into having sexual relations with her, whereby he is then obliged to marry into the Lauroso royal line which will allow Lishenzeri to claim the fortress as her property (regardless of what Fia has to say on this matter). Avaro's fidelity to Fia and the party's intervention prevent Lishenzeri's scheme from succeeding. She later joins the party after pledging loyalty to Fia as her master and lends aid in her personal capacity to the party cause. A privileged upbringing bestows Lishenntser with many talents besides politics. She is even capable of cooking her kingdom's traditional dishes to a high standard as part of her palace training.

A Leone hailing from the far north of the continent, she is orphaned at a young age and travels south. She is saved by Iol and they live together as family as she tries to find permanent employment to sustain their wandering lifestyles. Although she is innately talented in ice magic (specifically the spontaneous creation of miniature snowmen), she is no more than an apprentice mage at the start of the story and has trouble securing jobs beyond part-time work as prospective employers judge her by her appearance and dismiss her without giving her a fair chance. Micheju's dream is to earn enough money to enrich the lives of Iol and herself. As the story progresses she also dreams of obtaining a job as a court mage through her magic abilities. Fia takes an instant liking to Micheju's appearance and frequently caresses her tail and ears (usually without Micheju's permission).

A magician specialising in the processing of departed spirits; she inhabits 霊洩れの途 which gathers the souls of the dead from the Influss kingdom. Her role is to comfort the spirits and guide them to their intended destinations as well as fulfilling any orders from the royal family pertaining to extermination of malicious beings which prey on spirits. Roseline Fran was very young when her family was responsible for murdering the Inlux royal family, a crime which led directly to the kingdom's downfall and its fracture into the successor kingdoms which exist during the game. Her family was sentenced to death for its crimes, Roseline in particular chosen to make penance for eternity as she is bound to the will of the Influss royal line and to obey the orders of the lineage for as long as the line endures. As such she has served the Influss kingdom for over a century, even commanding armies of spirits on the battlefield on the monarch's behest. Avaro eventually breaks the spell over Roseline, allowing her to age normally once more but now beholden to Avaro's will. She is extremely loyal to her new master but also appreciative of his laissez-faire approach and his order that she find a purpose for living now that she is freed from her former servitude to the Influss royal line. Depending on player actions, Roseline either stays with Avaro's trading company as his secretary and accounts manager or resumes her old role as the caretaker of dead souls to save Avaro from the wrath of the Influss kingdom. Roseline is usually accompanied by two spirits dressed in the attire of nobility and wearing distinctive masquerade masks. They serve as her guardians and tend to Roseline's daily needs. When ordered, she can loan out her guardians to the Influss royal family to serve in a military capacity (she normally requires official written orders from the reigning king before she will comply with such requests).

The leader of the trading company which bears his name, he is highly calculating and will sacrifice anything to achieve his aims. His company frequently engages in criminal activity like assassinations and kidnapping away from the public eye. His trading company is just a cover for his real position as the last pure-blood descendant of the group of humans who rebelled against the rule of the gods centuries ago. His organisation 魔シキ封錬の匠 comprises the human descendants of the rebels who developed the technology to imprison gods and spirits to harness their divine power to operate mobile fortresses. The group prizes the importance of bloodline as it unlocks the key to retaking control of extant fortresses with bound gods. As Avaro's human heritage bears the same blood which freed Fia from her bounds, Gaidal schemes to manipulate Fia into a position where he can seize control of the Guaracouna fortress away from Avaro.

She is summoned to the Guaracuna fortress with a "fairy" persona complete with matching outfit whilst on her travels. The identity of her fairy outfit designer is unknown. Adding insult to injury, despite her magical girl appearance she is completely incapable of using magic and is far more comfortable fighting on the front lines with her greatsword (with a modified appearance resembling a magic staff) Exceedingly fond of cats and will venture into the depths of the Guaracuna fortress and the unstable parallel worlds within to save stranded felines. Once her character-specific weapons are crafted, she is able to use long-range offensive magic as a special ability intrinsic to each weapon. A special building is also unlocked allowing players to choose her appearance (either her guest appearance outfit or her original outfit from Kamidori Alchemy Meister)

The third prince of the Influss kingdom and the one responsible for ordering excavation work on the newly discovered ruins (later known as the Guaracouna fortress). The very epitome of naked ambition, Gilsh plots to claim the mobile fortress for himself after learning of its true nature from Kisnil. He orders Roseline to do his bidding as a member of the Iinfluss royal line and is not above using her as a hostage when he is desperate. Roseline observes how Gilsh became increasingly twisted under the environment he was raised in whereby success was claimed entirely under one's credit and the liability for failure pushed onto the shoulders of others. Gilsh sees everyone around him in purely utilitarian terms; those who are useful to him are retained for as long as they serve his purpose while those who fail him are discarded quickly. Even his own subjects are seen as entirely disposable in his quest to claim the Fortress for himself and to use it as leverage to claim the position of heir-apparent from his elder brothers.

One of the ancient nature spirits who serves the pantheon of Elven gods. He has mastery over the sphere of fire and lesser spirits of that element. The inhabitants of the Lauroso domain living under the shadow of the dormant volcano he inhabited made a pact with him ages ago which kept both him and the volcano dormant. Fia's arrival in pursuit of the missing Avaro awakened him and rendered the pact null and void. Once awakened, he would not rest until his primal instinct for destruction was sated and the dominion under the volcano reduced to smouldering ash. He initially mistakes Fia as an imposter of his master and must be subdued before he swears allegiance to Fia once more. Oddly enough Fia does not sense any familiarity with him unlike the other three guardians when they first meet. His subjugation is a major reason behind Lishenzeri's pledging of loyalty to Fia as her master.

Number 68 of the 72 Demons subjugated by Solomon, Belial is especially infamous for her strength and charisma which forced the ruling gods to seal her away in a parallel dimension to ensure her malicious influence does not have an impact on the world. Two hundred years prior to the start of the game, a mage discovered the entrance to Belial's prison and attempted to enter it to contract with Belial and gain unsurpassed power. This attracted the attention of the ruling Gods who sought to prevent this from happening. At the end of the struggle, a town which was the site of the struggle was teleported in its entirety to the ice mountain Avaro's party discovers during exploration by the gods which stopped Belial's prison from being breached. The events of the EX dungeon narrate how Avaro and party open the door leading to Belial's prison which frees her and almost results in the destruction of the world at Belial's hand had Avaro and company not stopped her. After losing to Avaro and company, Belial is invited to stay by Fia's side and Avaro eventually contracts with her. Belial hates boredom most of all, which is why her hellish prison is interesting to Avaro and company when they first see it but is dismissed by Belial for its monotony.

Having lost to Belial in the past, she travels together with her and lends considerable knowledge and expertise to the furthering of Belial's cause. After losing to Avaro and the party in an attempt to conquer the Fortress, Roseline suggests Avaro contract with her to ensure her obedience which he promptly does. The Demons of Solomon are renowned for their loyalty to masters who have bested them in combat and Forneus is no exception providing Avaro and company with the information they need to stop Belial's plan to invade and destroy the world.
