The hero of the story, the average boy who deeply cares about his little sister Kana. During childhood he didn't like Kana due to the attention she got from their parents but after an incident started supporting her, even more than a real brother. He is always there for her when she needs him. Later in the game he becomes confused about his feelings for Kana.

A girl who attends the same school as Taka. Taka liked her until an incident occurred between them in the fifth grade, after which he started hating her with a passion. She, however, has always pursued him.

Taka's little sister. Because of renal insufficiency, she spends most of the time in the hospital. She does not have many friends, and is very dependent on her brother.

One of Kana's classmates. When they first met, Yuuta picked on her for her lack of school attendance and shy nature, but has now begun to develop an interest in her, and regrets his earlier actions. He now does his best to protect Kana from bullies at school, and seeks Taka's permission to go out with her. Kana still does not like him, though, and is shy and silent in his presence.

Sumako's daughter. She has the same name as Kana, but they have completely different attributes. She's bright, cheerful, and persistent. She's quick and loves playing sports. However, she has hepatic insufficiency, so she always has to play and run around in the hospital.

Takamichi's aunt. She has terminal cancer. Her disease took her status, her pride, her honor. However, she peacefully lives in the hospice now.

The hospital nurse who has taken care of Kana since she was a little girl. When she first started taking care of Kana, she was just starting out. Although she's a veteran now, she still takes care of Kana. She thinks of Kana as her little sister and Taka as her little brother.
