Protagonist of the story, a normal guy in his last year of high school. Ciarán is satirical and sarcastic with a great tendency to make real big lies nobody would ever believe. Always acts like he hates everyone, but since he jokes about everything nobody take it seriously, especially considering he can be surprisingly childish from time to time. He can never say no to a bet, what makes some people think he has a gambling addiction, and he's always writing something in a small notebook he takes everywhere whose contents nobody knows.

She’s pretty small, so everyone thinks she’s a little girl the first time they meet her, and it's not like her personality helps to dispel the misunderstanding either. In front of Ciarán she’s bright and happy, always speaks her mind no matter how crazy it is and is also funny in her own way. But with anyone else she’s really shy, to the point that she can barely talk with them. Sometimes she seems to get serious and any conversation with her becomes incredibly weird, but it’s not usually for a long time. She’s also kinda wild and sometimes plays hooky from school.

A student from the "other side" Ciarán meets by chance. Her role in the weird emails Ciarán receives is unknown, although she seems to be related somehow. Luce is strong, direct, and energetic. She plays sports and loves to draw. She has a weird way of laughing that not everybody has heard, especially since she uses a façade in front of other people and pretends to be an average high schooler. She lies about stuff Ciarán doesn't get why anyone would lie about. Loves justice, and always justifies everything in the name of it.
