After winning competition after another, she was given the title of "SHSL Pianist". Being a pianoholic, Kaede tends to include music talk into her conversations. She has the ability to pull everyone together very positively, thanks to her leader-like personality. Akamatsu feels intense resentment for Headmaster Monokuma, who has forced the students into this outrageous killing game. While encouraging the other students, she strives to get them all out of the school, encouraging them by saying, “Once we get out, we’ll all be friends.”.

He reached the point where he was recognized as the SHSL Detective. Saihara, who stands out for his timid speech, demonstrates superior ability and insight. However, because he only happened to solve the murder cases by chance, he doesn’t believe he deserves the SHSL title. Because of a past experience, he doesn't like looking into others' eyes, which is why he hides his face with his cap. After Kaede's death, He takes over her role as protagonist for the rest of the game.

While the others descend into confusion and chaos, he displays a coolness while cross-examining Monokuma and the Monokumarz about their goals, as well as a deep understanding of the current situation. Tenko hates boys, to the point of calling them "awful boys" (lit. replacing part of the normal word for boys with the kanji for death). However, in the official English release, she calls them "male degenerates". If a boy praises her, her expression dies in an instant. In fact, she thinks that boys are useless and always keep making mistakes. Going beyond just not liking men, if it seems one will touch her, she’ll reflexively throw him. For the sake of his woodland family, Gonta aims to be a true gentleman. He is normally gentle and genteel, but when the topic of insects comes up, he can suddenly change. Because he spent his childhood in the forest, he is lacking certain general cultural knowledge, and so he often has trouble speaking with the other students. He can't spot when someone is lying or not either. As his appearance suggests, he has superhuman strength, but he claims that he’s never killed a bug. Also because of his appearance, people have a hard time speaking with him for the first time, so Gonta has a habit of thanking the person for talking with him.

She’s made things like the “eyedrop contacts” - which blasted her career through the roof - but she’s also an eccentric who treats her failed projects with the idea that “I transferred the rights to the company, so it’s got nothing to do with me.” Iruma is someone full of self-confidence, so her speech is brash and harsh. Every time she opens her mouth, it’s just a parade of explosive comments. If someone were to attack her mask, however, she quickly changes into a weakling.

Raised by his creator Professor Iidabashi as their own child and sent to attend high school, he has been recognized as being SHSL even as a robot. He has a serious personality and speaks politely, but he gets heated when it comes to discrimination against robots - the so-called "robophobia" - and will not hesitate to call out any and all instances of anti-robot discrimination. As you’d expect of a robot, he has a tendency to to overlook subtle nuances of human interaction, and often makes innocent comments that land him in hot water. Ouma particularly enjoys teasing him over this.
