Known as a “hero” among Armour pilots, because three years ago, during the great battle, he was one of the seven pilots to take the world’s first Walking Weapons into actual combat. (At that time, he was the only pilot who was not a head of one of the Rokukyō Families.) Even now, he continues to travel between training duties and the battlefield with Kotetsu, the very first prototype unit. Having grown up in a military environment from as early as he can remember, he is poor at dealing with women outside the battlefield. “For the sake of the Imperial State, I would not hesitate to lay down my life.”

Although her brigade belongs to the Army, it also responds to requests from the military power of the Rokukyō Families. Arimura is not only politically adept but also brilliant in both strategy and tactics, and as a result, has many enemies. However, her true achievement lies in her terrifying genius as a developer — the very talent that brought Walking Weapons to completion. Because of this, there are rumours that she is, in some way, lacking as a person. According to the protagonist: “In the presence of General Arimura, I feel a kind of tension I have rarely experienced.” At times she shows neither smile nor anger, and at other times she speaks with a warmth far greater than necessary — two sides that are always intertwined. Including indirect connections, she has known the protagonist for a long time, and acknowledges his abilities as a soldier. “If you truly wish to change, then come with me.”

With the Great Empire of Ivan launching its second invasion, she now serves as acting commander of the Ryōjun Fortress. She is open-hearted and approachable, yet she exudes a sensual allure that is difficult to reconcile with that of a mother of one child. However, she is a strict parent towards her daughter. Once a princess of a small kingdom, she lost her homeland in childhood when it was annexed during an invasion by the Empire of Ivan. During the First Mizuho–Ivan War three years ago, she took part in the campaign as the Emperor’s appointed overseer, leading the Imperial Guard Division alongside the commander chosen by the nobility. However, when that commander rashly launched an attack on their own, the battle situation collapsed, forcing the Empire into an untimely withdrawal. Following the war, the commander was dismissed and Varvara was appointed in their place as commander of the Eastern Expeditionary Army. “Forgive me. I must burden you with a harsh duty.”
