The protagonist of the game who lives together with his little sister, Minaho. Their parents left overseas to go teach different kinds of people, as they are teachers. He often leaves the making of the breakfast for his childhood friend, Hami. He is often called an old man due to his tastes: he enjoys tinkering with bonsai trees, and his favorite food is rice crackers. He is good at history while he hates and is bad at english. Under a request, Zenichi was chosen to be the lone member of the "Lovely Smile Committee" to differentiate between "pure" and "impure" love. However, he soon manages to pull in Hami, Aino, Minaho, Iroha and Ayaka to assist him with the committee work.

Aino is a transfer student from Finland. Energetic and always curious, this stereotypical character fits in the role of a “genkiko” (Energetic girl). Always looking for something new, everything in Japan seems to amazes this girl who spent most of her life in Europe. It also seems as if Zenichi’s dad was Aino’s original teacher, and the initiation for her to transfer over in the first place. Because of this, Aino finds Zenichi comfortable, and agrees to assist him with the “Lovely Smile” activities.

As his childhood friend and the granddaughter of the school headmaster, this cliche character is considered a “deredere” character, or someone who is helplessly in love with the protagonist. Obviously, this characteristic is not explained throughout the story, and most of Hami’s route involves being bewildered by Zenichi’s actions in the most exaggerated manner.
